SITIES OF TOURIST ATTRACTION |
The main tourist strength of parish of Nono is the rational operation of the tourism of mountains and adventure in the primary forest that surround it. For being more so rich natural area in flora fauna or and to be so near Quito, is ideal for the ecotourism.
Nono has some natural places: for fishing there are fish's pool; for bath there are a hot spring water and water falls; for bike is possible take a bike go to Mindo change the weather; for horseriding is possible take horse a go around the routes. |

NATURAL PLACES |

The predominant climate of the region is cold and humid, because great part of the parish is located in the western slopes of the Pichincha, that are conformed by forest, very humid and mountainous, when being lowering the height it is transformed into valleys of characteristics tempered semitropical with abundant vegetation.
One of main the attractiveness of the parish is the vegetation diversity. Its natural wealth is appreciated, mainly in the primary forest. It has a great amount of exotic birds, like only species of hummingbird (colibríes).
The main river that irrigates this parish is the Pichán, that is born of the slopes of the Ruco Pichincha and blue Hill rand crosses all the valley of Nono. Another important river is the Alambí that it is born in the mountain range of he himself name and ends affluent of the Guallabamba |

YANACOCHA |

RESERVA BIOLOGICA YANACOCHA
It is an impressive reservation located on the western slope of the Guagua Pichincha mountain, its is the shelter of the Black-breasted Zamarrito (Eriocnemis nigrivestis), declared the Emblematic Bird of Quito City, because of being one of the rarest humming bird in the world since only 200 individuals remain.
It counts on a 1000ha farm and a 2800m altitude which goes from 2800 to 4000m over sea level, thanks to which the highlands, cloudy forest, and one of the largest Polyepsis extensions in the country holding some 150 bird species and it is one of the latest shelters for the Andean Condor, the goggled gray Bear, and the majestic Puma.
Varied footpath ways permit walking though easily and with little effort to different places and get surprised at unbelievable places, falcons, beautiful flowers, or simply feel wind and the subtle coldness mixed with the humid land aroma and pure Andean air |

The Pichincha Mountain gives rise to a great number of rivers and water streams that when passing go giving life to a large variety of flora and fauna, the cloudy-forest influence permits their volume to increase which after traveling long distance and arriving to steep slopes give origin to spectacular water falls.
The Alambi River was named after the existence of a sort of tree common along its watercourse on the way from Nono to Nanegalito, since for people in the sector Alambi means "Little Avocado of Water".
The waterfall is formed by two cascades forest remains permit taking walks or if preferred horse-riding is a good option: of course, a good dive is ideal to complement the journey |

MIRADOR ALASPUNGO
On the way to Alaspungo one goes discovering in the landscape part of what exist in Cruz Loma, called so because of the crossroad which form a large cross on the way.
Already at the top, the spectacular 360º view offers a singular landscape. The Pichincha volcano and its active crater nearby, the Western cordillera stands majestic showing their impressive water streams, originated by the volcano intense work from so many centuries ago and there appeared as small dots in a gigantic map, Nanegalito, La Armenia , Santa Elena, Los Bancos, and at the other side Cotacachi, showing us the way to Imbabura, the Cayambe mountain supplements the impressive spectacle. Perhaps the only thing which breaks harmony is the recent construction of a large TV signal antenna that reminds us the reality of modernity. |

VERTIENTES LA MERCED
La Merced Farm was one of the most important, since from its fertile lands were obtained a large variety of products typical from the sierra, but there was much more than this: mineral and thermal waters that the clergy men used to relief their pains. Now, there are few people going there, attracted either by its heat, energy, strong sulfur smell, the use its natural gas mostly for beverage industry and of course their curative properties that along with the simple natural landscape make them ideal for a weekend adventure. |

ANOTHER SITIES NEAR TO NONO
The Nono-Mindo road(1500-3400 m).- Is a route where you can find different birds and forest types. It is very difficult to reach the top of this road. However, you can stay at some lodges located at the lower half.
Bellavista (1800-2300 m).- Is located on the Nono - Mindo road. At this lodge, you can find many colorful and hardcore birds.
Tandayapa Lodge (1700 m).- Located on the Nono - Mindo road. In this lodge, some experienced guides can demonstrate and inform you about any type of bird. 318 species of birds have been found here.
Mindo(1300-2400).- Located two hours from Quito. Here, you can have an excellent view of birds such as the quetzals and tanagers. More than 400 species can be found in this area. Mindo is well-known for its concern about the ecotourism.

The Catholic people will go walking and saying as a prayer and singing to the "Virgin of Alambi". This event is a tradition each year on the “Anniversary of the parochial foundation”.

San Miguel de Nono Church
From the top f the old road to northwest it looked like an immense linen cloth with natural green background is this small town a mandatory stop for wayfarers who were looking to get into the mountain.
The picturesque town placed its central square on a former cemetery, one of the first houses became a small school and once more, the minga unified the few people in order to construct the church, that as it is said it was built by 1665.
Of traditional architecture, their walls were made with adobe, bamboo roof, and over it, tile, its façade is simple and invites to visit its interior, a small wooden altar shows its gothic style, located at the middle is the virgin of the Road protector of travelers, near the Crucified Christ, Saint Peter, and Resurrected Christ are a sample of its people's faith.
